Throne

Throne is a seated pose where the flyer sits upright on the base’s feet. It’s often one of the first poses where flyers experience the joy of balancing independently without hand support.

Description

The flyer sits on the base’s feet in a stable, upright position. The base’s feet support the flyer’s seat bones while the flyer maintains balance through core engagement.

Prerequisites

Comfort with Bird pose Core stability Hip flexibility for comfortable sitting

Step-by-Step Instructions

For the Base:

Lie on your back with legs raised

Bend knees to bring feet toward your hips

Turn feet so toes point outward (duck-footed)

Place heels on flyer’s seat bones

Slowly extend legs, keeping flyer centered

For the Flyer

Stand in front of base’s feet

Sit back onto base’s heels (like sitting in a chair)

Place seat bones on base’s heels

Engage core and sit tall

Release hands when balanced

Tips for Success

Bases: the flyer’s weight should be on your heels, not toes Flyers: sit tall like there’s a string pulling your head up Use a spotter until the pose is stable Start with hands connected before free balancing
