Star Pose is an intermediate position that challenges both base and flyer with a smaller balance point. It represents a significant progression from Bird and develops fine-tuned balance skills.
Description
Similar to Bird, but the flyer’s hips are balanced on a smaller point – typically one foot instead of two, or on the base’s hands instead of feet. The flyer’s body makes a star shape with arms and legs extended.
Prerequisites
Solid Bird pose Good core engagement Trust with your partner Stable spotting
Step-by-Step Instructions
For the Base:
Start in Bird position
Slowly bring feet together under flyer’s center
Eventually reduce to one foot (or transition to hands)
Make constant micro-adjustments to keep flyer centered
For the Flyer
Find stable Bird position first
Create strong body tension as base reduces contact
Spread arms and legs in star shape
Make subtle adjustments with core
Find your balance point and breathe
Safety Notes
Always use a spotter when learning Star Build up gradually – don’t rush the transition Communicate throughout the transition If balance is lost, have a clear exit plan
